A moose marched through the automatic front doors of Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage on April 6 and snacked from a potted plant before security guided its exit, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
The young moose calmly nibbled on the plant as some staff members watched from behind a barricade of wheelchairs. Providence's security staff and a few others formed a human wall around the animal, which ambled out of the front doors after about 30 to 40 minutes, the report said.
"He finally had enough of everybody looking at him and finally made his way out the door," Randy Hughes, director of security with Providence, told the Anchorage Daily News. After the moose left, the patients and nurses cheered.
Mr. Hughes said the moose then went toward the oncology side of the building, sat in the snow and napped.
"The moose visit did not have an impact on patient care," a spokesperson told Becker's, "other than people who may have been delayed making it to an appointment until the moose was escorted back outside and everything was safe."
