The American Physiological Society and online library Wiley will relaunch the journal Comprehensive Physiology with a new focus on interorgan communication.
An Oct. 14 society news release boasts the journal will serve as the premier platform for research, review and editorial content dedicated to interorgan communication in health and disease. The journal is open for submissions and will publish its first bimonthly issue online Jan. 1.
Usha Raj, MD, fellow at the American Physiological Society and the American Thoracic Society, and the Anjuli S. Nayak professor of pediatrics at Chicago-based University of Illinois College of Medicine, was named editor-in-chief of the journal.
"Comprehensive Physiology will be the first journal exclusively dedicated to interorgan communication in the field," Dr. Raj said in the release. "Our goal is to illuminate the complex interactions that influence human health and disease, ultimately advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in the field. We invite authors from the worldwide physiology community to submit their novel basic and clinical-translational research and review articles on interorgan communication to the journal."
