Concord (N.H.) Hospital diverted five emergency room patients to other medical centers Dec. 18 after a clogged drain caused a sewer backup and water drainage issue, according to the Concord Monitor.
The issue began around 9:15 a.m., and crews were called on-site for repair, Jennifer Dearborn, director of public affairs at Concord Hospital, told the Concord Monitor. The issue affected areas near patient rooms, the cafeteria, the catheterization suite, the pharmacy and some operating rooms. Patients with appointments in affected areas were contacted, Ms. Dearborn said.
All issues were addressed and the hospital began accepting emergency patients again around 1:30 p.m., Ms. Dearborn said, adding that no hospital patients were moved or relocated.
Ms. Dearborn was not able to say which emergency facility patients were diverted to, but the nearest one is 18 miles away from Concord Hospital, according to the Concord Monitor.
