In response to pandemic-related restrictions, Missouri lawmakers are considering a bill that would require hospitals and health systems to permit visitors.
Three things to know:
1. The Missouri House of Representatives advanced the bill March 2.
2. The legislation, dubbed the "No Patient Left Alone Act," would allow patients to have a spouse or guardian and one of up to three designated "essential support persons" with them at all times.
3. Healthcare facilities would still be allowed to restrict patients' visitor access for several reasons, including if the person has signs of a transmissible disease.
