North American Partners in Anesthesia, the exclusive provider of anesthesia services for the North Shore-LIJ Health System, has announced it worked collaboratively with the health system in selecting Surgical Information Systems' (SIS) anesthesia information management system (AIMS).
The SIS AIMS will assume an integral part of North Shore's current perioperative system, including anesthesia as part of the single perioperative record, according to a news release from NAPA. Features of the AIMS include the delivering of anesthesia documentation and anesthesia business intelligence, enabling hospital surgery and anesthesia documentation to reside on a single database.
The implementation of the program will begin at North Shore University Hospital and later take effect at the other North Shore-LIJ Health Systems hospitals.
"As the only specialty anesthesia system featuring a shared database with a perioperative system, SIS anesthesia supports continuity of care with changes in the perioperative record being reflected in the anesthesia record as well," said Dr. John Di Capua, vice president of anesthesiology at the North Shore-LIJ Health System and member of the board of directors at NAPA, in the release. "The seamless integration and improved ease-of-use leads to a higher quality of patient care. We're proud to support the North Shore-LIJ Health System as it continues to develop its technology systems."
