Timken Foundation gives $5M to MD Anderson cancer institute

Canton, Ohio-based Timken Foundation donated $5 million to the James P. Allison Institute at Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The gift will be used to recruit researchers from around the world to advance cancer research, according to an Oct. 27 MD Anderson release.

"Thanks to the generous support of benefactors like the Timken Foundation, we are attracting world-renowned scientists to transform how we conduct impactful research and help us realize the promise of immune-based treatments for all patients," James Allison, PhD, director of the Allison Institute and regental chair of immunology at MD Anderson, said in the release.
