The median compensation for hematologists and medical oncologists increased 7.1% from 2023 to 2024, going from $498,062 to $533,402, according to the American Medical Group Association.
The organization analyzed the compensation of more than 189,000 providers across 459 medical groups, including in 12 physician specialties, according to a July 12 news release from the AMGA.
The hematology and medical oncology compensation jump was higher than the 6.0% increase reported in neurology but lower than the 7.9% increase in cardiology.
Survey analysis showed there was a 5.1% increase in compensation across all medical specialties, greater than the 3.6% increase reported for primary care physicians.
