AI-based radiation treatments now available at one Philadelphia cancer center

Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia will now offer patients a new radiation technique known as "cone-beam computed tomography-based adaptive radiation therapy," according to a May 10 news release.

The technology, according to the release, targets tumors more precisely and allows for adjustments to be made before each treatment, tailored to a patient's individual needs.

"Due to the personalized nature of adaptive radiotherapy, a clinician may be able to deliver even higher doses of radiation to the cancer while sparing healthy organs and cells," the news release states.

In addition, treatments with the technology can be completed in normal radiation time slots.
