Hospital administrators and policy experts discussed "greening America's hospitals" and the work of the Healthier Hospitals Initiative, a collaboration of more than 500 hospitals that aims to foster greater adoption of environmentally friendly practices in hospital settings.
Two panel discussions focused on how to foster a culture of environmental sustainability in hospitals, as well as how to transform the supply chain to make it more environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
The discussion highlighted linkages between environmental sustainability and economic profitability, from saving money on energy, waste and water bills to creating a healthier and safer environment for patients, according to a news release.
