Wesley Long Hospital in North Carolina to Open $18M ED

Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., part of Greensboro-based Cone Health, will open its new $18 million emergency department Friday, according to a Business Journal report.

The new ED more than doubled the size of the previous facility, increasing from 12,000 square feet to 28,000 square feet. The ED includes 25 private rooms, nine triage or minor care rooms, eight rooms for patients waiting to be admitted to the hospital, a diagnostic X-ray facility and a new dedicated CT scanner, according to the report.

The old ED will be converted to an outpatient surgery center that is expected to open in 2013.
