Franciscan Health System, based in Tacoma, Wash., is eliminating the jobs of 30 employees, even as it hires staff at other locations, according to a report by The News Tribune.
Since Jan. 1, Franciscan has hired 615 people, 450 of whom are workers at the new St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor. The remaining hires are scattered throughout the health system, according to the report.
The 30 employees who were laid off were in administrative and ancillary jobs. In addition to the layoffs, the schedules will be cut for 10 employees in "less essential" roles, according to the report.
