University of Illinois Hospital Renovation to Cost $45M More Than Estimated

University of Illinois trustees approved an increase in spending from $40 million to $85 million to renovate the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago, according to a News-Gazette report.

Estimates from a few years ago put the cost at $40 million, but additional projects called for an increase in spending, according to the report.

The renovation includes updating the interior and exterior of the main building, and adding two stories to part of the main hospital to house a conference center and gastrointestinal laboratory expansion.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2015.
