Cincinnati-based TriHealth and Dayton, Ohio-based Kettering Health Network are each planning to build new emergency departments this year, according to a Middletown Journal report.
This summer, TriHealth plans to begin building a new ED at its recently purchased Butler County Medical Center, now Bethesda Butler County TriHealth Hospital, in Hamilton, Ohio. The 15,000- to 16,000-square-foot facility would add 100 to 125 full- and part-time jobs. The project is expected to open in 2013.
Kettering Health Network plans to begin $5 million ED renovations in its Fort Hamilton (Ohio) Hospital in April. The project includes adding 6,000 square feet to the existing 14,000-square-foot facility with an expected completion date of August 2013. The expansion is designed to increase capacity, as ED visits are expected to increase 10 percent this year compared with 2011.
