Knoxville, Tenn.-based physician outsourcing firm TeamHealth has announced a profit of $14.4 million for its first quarter of 2012 ended March 31, down from $20.1 million the same quarter a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter was $478.7 million, up 16 percent from $412.5 million in the first quarter of 2011. Adjusted EBITDA increased 5.6 percent for the quarter to $50.7 million. While revenue growth was driven by the group's acquisitions, same contract revenue also increased, up 3.8 percent to $395.7 million from $381.1 million in the first quarter of 2011.
Included in the first quarter results was an increase in prior year liability loss reserves of $5.2 million and a $6.3 million contingent purchase compensation expense associated with acquisitions that contained a contingent payment component of the total purchase price and non-cash amortization expense of $6.1 million, according to the company.
