A recent study has shown the majority of hospitals do not use Facebook to promote their mission and business goals, according to a news release from Simon Associates Management Consultants.
The study examined the Facebook activity and tactics of 120 hospitals of various sizes over a month's period. It found children's hospitals to be the leaders in Facebook utilization with significantly more fans than non-children's hospitals.
Other highlights from the study include:
• Eight out of 120 hospitals, or 6 percent, had more than 10,000 fans.
• Eighty percent of hospitals did not use Facebook's discussion boards.
• Less than 50 percent of hospitals used Facebook's event calendar to promote hospital events.
• Less than 40 percent of hospitals posted daily.
The study was a joint project of Simon Associates Management Consultants and Verasoni Worldwide.
