Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago completed its move to a new $915 million facility in June. The hospital's asking price for its former site is reportedly $60 million. A hospital spokesperson said funds from the sale would be invested in healthcare in the community, according to the report.
There are many conflicting interests over what this site will be used for. Some want to use the campus' old nurse training facility to expand a nearby public elementary school. The planned expansion was deemed too tall and too dense for the area, however.
Others want to turn a magnet elementary school back into a neighborhood school instead of expanding the public elementary school.
