Medicity, the nation's largest clinical health information exchange vendor, announced that it is collaborating with Emdeon, the nation's largest financial and administrative health information exchange solution provider, to create the first "converged" national health information exchange, according to a Medicity news release.
The collaboration leverages Emdeon's national network of payors, providers and pharmacies and Medicity's clinical exchange network, based on Medicity's innovative iNexx Health 4.0 platform. Combining access to the services of both Emdeon and Medicity will allow eligible providers to meet meaningful use criteria more easily and as an extension of current technologies already used in their daily practices. The companies reach approximately 88 percent of physician practices combined, making meaningful use possible for many practices, according to the report.
"Emdeon is the recognized leader in the exchange of both financial and administrative data within healthcare with the largest reach of any service provider. When you consider the breadth of Medicity's network of providers in combination with Emdeon's, the collaboration could connect more than 500,000 providers nationwide," James K. Lassetter, MD, chairman and CEO of Medicity, said in the release. "We are excited that Emdeon is working with Medicity, which we believe validates our strategic direction with iNexx and our Health 4.0 platform. Exposing Emdeon services to Medicity's large and established network of providers across the country will enable our customers to more completely achieve meaningful use on a single platform."
