Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health is planning to build a children's hospital at a new location — the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, according to a WIVB report.
The system decided to move locations due to limited opportunities to expand the current hospital, according to the report. However, some members of the community believe the move will negatively impact businesses because they could lose the patronage of the hospital's employees and patients. Some are also concerned that the unoccupied hospital and loss of the hospital's police presence could tarnish the area's image.
Kaleida will search for a new potential buyer of the existing hospital.
