Humana's Provider Quality Rewards Program will soon distribute nearly $10 million to approximately 2,800 physicians across the U.S. as incentive payments for improving quality and efficiency, according to a Humana news release.
Humana's incentive payments are based around performance in nine National Committee for Quality Assurance preventive and chronic-condition management areas, including:
• Breast cancer screening
• Glaucoma screening
• Colorectal cancer screening
• Cholesterol screening
• Diabetes management
• Osteoporosis medication management
• Spirometry testing for COPD patients
• Monitoring patients on persistent medication
• Anti-rheumatic drugs for patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Physicians will receive payments up to as much as $175,000 for the improvements.
