The Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved a $54.8 million mortgage for Schenectady, N.Y.-based Ellis Medicine's emergency department expansion at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, according to a Business Review report.
The planned $61 million Golub Center for Emergency Care will encompass 38,000 square feet — nearly double the current ED's size — and will expand the number of treatment rooms from 47 to 60, according to the report.
The hospital plans to begin construction later this year and expects to complete the project in 2014.
