A recent study conducted by the Commonwealth Fund shows nearly half of uninsured young adults are delaying care due to high healthcare costs in 2010.
Other key findings from the Commonwealth Fund include the following:
· Thirty-nine percent of uninsured young adults are struggle to pay their medical bills.
· The percentage of uninsured young adults (age 19-29) is three-fold that of children ages 19 and younger.
· Medical debt and bills increased among uninsured young adults with low and moderate incomes.
· The new healthcare reform law, which allows individuals to stay on their parents' health plan until they are 26, may benefit 1 million-2 million young adults.
· Another 12.1 million young adults could gain health coverage either through state insurance exchanges or Medicaid.
