CMS has issued revised guidance on rehabilitation and respiratory care services for hospital Conditions of Participation, according to an AHA News Now report.
CMS rescinded previous interpretive guidance Friday. The new guidance allows non-privileged practitioners to order outpatient rehabilitation and respiratory care services in line with the state license/scope of practice and written hospital policy.
This change in guidance is partly in response to the American Hospital Association and other stakeholders that said the original guidance could reduce access to care for patients.
