UnitedHealth seeks damages from $1B+ Medicare lawsuit

UnitedHealth Group is seeking damages from the federal government after the Justice Department tossed much of a lawsuit accusing the payer of using incorrect risk scores to inflate Medicare Advantage payments, Reuters reports.

The original False Claims Act lawsuit claimed UnitedHealth received at least $1 billion in Medicare reimbursement by submitting inaccurate data. The DOJ abandoned much of that lawsuit Feb. 26.
