Nationwide Children's locked down for 40 minutes, reports of man with weapon

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, went into lockdown Dec. 12 after police responded to reports of a man with an assault-style weapon at the hospital.

"We can confirm that Nationwide Children's was on lockdown for approximately 40 minutes this afternoon," a spokesperson from Nationwide Children's confirmed to Becker's. "Our team followed all appropriate protocols. Columbus Police Department responded immediately…"

Becker's asked if anyone was harmed and the hospital did not confirm, but did state that the situation is now "all clear with no threat present" and that it has returned to normal operations at this time.

This is a developing story, and it will be updated as new information becomes available.
