Home healthcare owner gets prison for $10M Medicare fraud scheme

A Houston home healthcare owner was sentenced Aug. 16 to 60 months in prison after admitting to a $10 million Medicare fraud scheme.

The U.S. Justice Department said Naomi Moore, 59, fraudulently billed Medicare by using the names of beneficiaries that were not patients at either of the home healthcare services businesses she owned. The fraudulent billing occurred between May 2006 and June 2019. Ms. Moore pleaded guilty to federal charges in April.

Ms. Moore billed Medicare for about $10.7 million in fraudulent claims; the Justice Department said Medicare paid out about $6.8 million on those claims.
