The Medicaid Self-Referral Act of 2014, introduced by Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.), seeks to provide clarification on the Stark Law and how it applies to Medicaid-designated health services.
3. Adventist Health System Self-Discloses Stark Law Violations
Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System disclosed it violated the Stark Law.
4. Stark Law Correction Coalition Pushes For Simplification
More than 50 hospitals joined in the Stark Law Correction Coalition — organized by the law firm of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman — to urge legislators to adopt an amendment to Stark Law that would limit the monetary penalty a healthcare provider can suffer for committing a technical violation of the law and provide an expedited review process of self-disclosed technical violations by CMS.
5. Amedisys to Pay $150M to Settle False Claims, Anti-Kickback, Stark Law Allegations
Baton Rouge, La.-based Amedisys, one of the country's largest providers of home health services, and its affiliates agreed to pay the government $150 million to resolve allegations brought under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law.
