USC creates new program for physicians, nurses and IT professionals to innovate healthcare

The University of Southern California in Los Angeles has created a Master of Science program in health systems management engineering.

The program is the first of its kind on the West Coast. Coursework will focus on improving healthcare processes and using data to help providers make decisions, according to a July 20 USC news release.

The program is designed to accommodate full-time professionals within the healthcare industry and can be completed on a part-time basis. A student could complete the program in 18 months with a full-time course load.
