North Carolina health system launches AI patient care coordination platform

Cone Health, a nonprofit healthcare network based in Greensboro, N.C., teamed up with Rad AI, a radiologist-led AI company, to improve care coordination.

Cone Health will leverage and enhance Rad AI's Continuity platform that uses artificial intelligence technology to help communicate follow-up recommendations after significant incidental findings in radiology reports, according to a Jan. 27 press release.

The AI technology will help ensure proper patient follow-up is communicated, ordered, scheduled and completed.

"We have seen how critical it is to close the loop on significant incidental findings and what a challenging problem it is to address using our currently available resources," said Mary Jo Cagle, MD, CEO of Cone Health. "By automating the majority of steps related to patient follow-ups, Rad AI removes those manual tasks from our clinical team and gives them back more time to focus on caring for their patients."

Rad AI's platform also integrates its data directly into health systems' EHRs and works efficiently with outpatient imaging centers, according to the press release.
