Amazon launched new capabilities for its multiomics platform that are already being used by hospitals such as New York City-based Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Amazon Omics allows clients to store, query and analyze genomic, transcriptomic and other omics data. One of its initial customers was Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The new proficiencies include added speed, computing power and direct data uploading.
"This should significantly accelerate the pace of clinicogenomics," said Daniel Hughes, PhD, director of bioinformatics at the Institute for Genomic Medicine and the Precision Genomics Laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, in a May 15 Amazon news release.
