Tallahassee-based Florida State University's College of Nursing is launching a new institute focused on digital health and innovation.
The institute, created by faculty members Lisa Hightow-Weidman, MD, and Kathryn Muessig, PhD, will emphasize the use of digital tools in health education, messaging and treatment, and aim to inspire collaboration and innovation across the university and healthcare industry, according to a Nov. 9 press release from FSU.
The Institute on Digital Health and Innovation will also provide training for students and postdoctoral fellows through research.
"This institute will bring together and foster collaborations across multiple diverse groups, including academic, community and industry stakeholders," Dr. Hightow-Weidman said. "And what the institute can offer hopefully is to create an ecosystem to facilitate the advancement of rigorous, translational research focused on solving real-world needs of patients and that ultimately benefit healthcare systems and communities."
Dr. Hightow-Weidman will serve as founding director of the institute, and Dr. Muessig will serve as its founding associate director.
