Elon Musk's brain-computer interface company Neuralink raised $280 million in series D financing.
The financing round was announced Aug. 7 on Mr. Musk's X social network, formerly known as Twitter. Billionaire Peter Thiel's venture capital firm Founders Fund led the financing round.
Neuralink is one of the best-known players in the brain-computer interface scene. In February, the company faced investigations for allegedly packaging and transporting contaminated hardware.
Last year, Neuralink rival Synchron became the first brain-computer interface company to begin human trials.
