Five health system nursing leaders have been named advisors at virtual nursing company AvaSure.
Here are the hospital chiefs on the company's Chief Nursing Executive Advisory Board, which includes a total of 10 industry leaders:
1. D'Andre Carpenter, DNP, RN, senior vice president and enterprise chief nurse executive, UnityPoint Health (West Des Moines, Iowa)
2. Kathy Howell, BSN, RN, system chief nursing executive, UCHealth (Aurora, Colo.)
3. Gay Landstrom, PhD, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, Trinity Health (Livonia, Mich.)
4. Lorie Rhine, MSN, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer, UNC Rex Healthcare (Raleigh, N.C.)
5. Pam Rudisill, DNP, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.)
"There are not enough nurses to meet our needs in the current model," Ms. Howell said at a recent working meeting, according to a May 17 AvaSure news release. "As nurse leaders, we must take the lead in redesigning care delivery or someone else will do it for us."
The executives plan to develop guidelines and recommendations to advance virtual nursing and virtual sitting technologies.
"We are still suffering from the same problems we had 10 years ago: Nurses are stretched too thin, resulting in frustration and burnout," stated Ms. Rhine. "Virtual care finally offers us a path towards a sustainable labor solution."
