Health systems have been partnering with tech companies on artificial intelligence, mobile apps and telehealth. Here are five of those collaborations Becker's reported on in March.
1. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic formalized an agreement March 14 with Google to "explore further research, model development and commercialization." Over the past three years, the collaboration has been studying how to use AI to improve radiotherapy treatment.
2. Portland-based MaineHealth is piloting the use of Dragon Ambient Experience, a tool to record and transcribe patient conversations from Microsoft AI subsidiary Nuance, the Bangor Daily News reported March 21. IT leaders from Renton, Wash.-based Providence and Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health also praised the new platform, which uses OpenAI's GPT-4 technology.
3. Seattle Children's integrates Zoom-powered video visits into its mobile app, its developers told Becker's for a March 20 story.
4. Health systems with Epic EHRs have been leaning toward Microsoft Azure for their cloud migration, a March 21 KLAS Research report found.
5. Salisbury, Md.-based TidalHealth merged its Epic MyChart patient portal with the Apple Health app March 23.
