University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Va., and Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare have formed a partnership to rebuild MWHC's cardiac surgery program, according to a Free Lance–Star report.
Under the five-year contract, University of Virginia Health System will staff and manage the program.
Richard Gitter, MD, FACS, is the new medical director of cardiovascular surgery at MWHC. The program director and a heart surgeon will be recruited from UVA.
