As of Jan. 1, Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyo., is an affiliated hospital of the newly formed University of Colorado Health, based in Aurora.
Under the management agreement, 99-bed Ivinson Memorial will remain an independent hospital run by its seven-member board of the Albany County Hospital District, but it is a member of UCHealth. The two organizations can share resources and expertise, and Ivinson's C-level executives are now employees of UCHealth.
Carol Dozier, president and CEO of Ivinson Memorial, said in a news release that "affiliating with University of Colorado Health gives us…increased market power in managing the rising costs of care and still more muscle in meeting the special challenges of rural and community care."
UCHealth, which was created in 2012 through the merger of University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Poudre Valley Health System in Fort Collins, Colo., and several other organizations, now has roughly 1,500 inpatient beds across the Rocky Mountain area.
