The Washington State Department of Health recommended regulators approve Sunnyside, Wash.-based Regional Health's application to purchase Toppenish (Wash.) Community Hospital and Yakima (Wash.) Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, pending agreement to certain conditions, according to the Yakima Herald.
The department of health announced its decision following the completion of its analysis of Regional Health's certificate of need application, the report states. It is unclear when the DOH informed Regional Health officials of its decision, though officials reportedly notified hospital staff at the three facilities of the decision Aug. 23, the report states.
Regional Health officials declined to comment on the specific conditions outlined by in the DOH's analysis, but an executive at the health system said officials "don't see any problems meeting them," according to the report.
Regional Health officials are in the process of reviewing the DOH's analysis and will respond to the department with the 20-day timeframe, the report states.
Regional Health is a nonprofit organization formed by Sunnyside (Wash.) Community Hospital & Clinics to purchase Toppenish Community Hospital and Yakima Regional. Regional Health placed a bid to buy the hospitals for $45 million in December 2016, the Yakima Herald reports.
