St. Vincent Health to Manage Monroe Hospital in Indiana

St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis will manage operations of Monroe Hospital in Bloomington, Ind., under an agreement recently announced by both hospitals, according to an Indiana Business Journal report.

As part of the deal, St. Vincent will oversee quality and safety efforts, physician relations, patient experience, finance and other functions to increase efficiency and reduce costs at Monroe Hospital. According to the report, Monroe Hospital has been dealing with financial issues, including a loss of $13.2 million in 2011. The hospital has been searching for partners for the last two years.

Due to its deal with Monroe Hospital, St. Vincent will have a large geographic reach. The only other Indiana hospital with a similar geographic reach is Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health, according to the report.
