St. Louis-based SSM Health Care is the new owner and operator of Audrain Medical Center, an 88-bed hospital based in Mexico, Mo.
The two organizations signed an acquisition agreement, and effective April 1, Audrain Medical Center and its rural clinics will become part of SSM Health Care.
As part of the agreement, SSM Health Care will rename Audrain Medical Center, though a name has not yet been determined. SSM Health now owns 18 acute-care hospitals throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma. It also holds minority interest in five hospitals, has affiliations with several rural hospitals and manages the operations of Pauls Valley (Okla.) General Hospital, which recently filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy.
