Vineland, N.J.-based South Jersey Healthcare is holding a public hearing tonight on its proposed agreement to merge with Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, N.J.
After a slight delay — when the New Jersey Department of Health and the Federal Trade Commission requested more information — the proposed merger has received federal approval and is now under review by the state of New Jersey, according to a Courier Post report. The public hearing is one of the final steps in the merger.
According to the report, if approved, the merger would create one of the region's biggest health facilities.
South Jersey Healthcare and Underwood-Memorial Hospital began the merger process when they signed a definitive agreement in January.
