Scott & White Merger Brings Changes to Taylor, Texas

The recently announced merger between Temple, Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare and the former Johns Community Hospital, now Scott & White Hospital – Taylor, promises changes in services, resources and technology for the Taylor, Texas, community, according to a Community Impact report.

The Taylor hospital's employees became Scott & White employees upon the merger and no staff cuts are planned, but relations with clinic physicians who have had offices in the Johns Community Health Center will change. These physicians will now have to lease space from Scott & White and provide their own staff and billing if they wish to continue practicing in the health center, according to the report.

Previously unaffordable technology upgrades will be a beneficial change. New electronic information technology systems, updated imaging equipment, aesthetic refurbishing, EKG machines and stress treadmills are some of the planned improvements.
