Tulsa, Okla.-based Saint Francis Health System agreed to purchase Vinita, Okla.-based Craig General Hospital and its affiliated clinics, according to Tulsa World.
Craig General filed for bankruptcy in February 2015. The Craig County Hospital Authority has managed hospital operations since 1993. According to its website, the hospital is also affiliated with seven clinics in the area.
Craig General Hospital trustee Eddy Allensworth said the board's decision to sell Craig General came after more than a year of deliberations and discussion regarding a potential affiliation or sale, according to the article.
"We understand that healthcare is undergoing dramatic changes," said Jake Henry, president and CEO of Saint Francis Health System, in a statement. "While we can't be certain the extent to which rural and regional health care in Oklahoma will be affected, I can assure you that a partnership with Saint Francis will offer CraigGeneralHospital a level of stability that would not be possible otherwise."
