Chicago-based Presence Health has plans to expand its footprint in Illinois, as the Catholic health system has signed a letter of intent to form an affiliation with Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, Ill.
Presence Health, the largest Catholic health system in Illinois, was formed in 2011 when Mokena, Ill.-based Provena Health and Chicago-based Resurrection Health Care merged. The 49-bed Iroquois Memorial would be the system's 13th hospital.
Presence Health and Iroquois Memorial officials will now undergo due diligence before signing a definitive agreement. No timeline was given for when a final deal could be signed, and financial terms were not disclosed.
According to a news release, Iroquois Memorial executives have been looking for a partner for more than a year "to ensure the sustainability of local access to high-quality healthcare for the residents of the communities served by [Iroquois Memorial] and to maintain jobs at the facility."
