Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health has announced it will be dissolving its affiliation with Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur because the organization is ready to stand on its own, according to the Le Sueur News-Herald.
The dissolution agreement is mutual, according to the report. Essentia is putting increased focus on its north metro area and MVHC is working to achieve goals in its local community, MVHC Communications Coordinator Corrie Eggimann told the Le Sueur News-Herald.
MVHC expects to pay more for supplies and insurance after the dissolution, but does not expect any other changes on staff or on patient care, according to the report.
The health center is moving toward a goal of independence, Ms. Eggimann told the Le Sueur News-Herald. It currently has a relationship to Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
The City of Le Sueur was also involved in the Essentia-MVHC affiliation, and plans to discuss the transition at a meeting Monday, according to the report.
