Mercy Health System of Maine in Portland and Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems in Brewer have entered into a non-binding letter of intent for Eastern Maine to acquire Mercy Health.
If approved, the deal would create a health delivery system that covers half of Maine's population. Regulatory and canonical approval will be sought immediately as the parties begin due diligence toward a definitive agreement.
