The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has approved the merger between Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital and Saint's Medical Center in Lowell.
Under the agreement, Lowell General and Saint's Medical will form one entity. One board of trustees — drawn from each organization's current boards — will govern the combined hospital. Current Lowell General president and CEO, Norm Deschene, will serve as president and CEO. The merger will finalize after all approvals are complete.
