Two public hospitals just outside of New Orleans are looking for partners, and the short list has been whittled down to three potential organizations, according to a Times-Picayune report.
The Jefferson Parish Council, which oversees 420-bed East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., and 427-bed West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La., has been looking to sell or lease the two hospitals for roughly a year. According to the Times-Picayune, the three finalists are Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America, Ochsner Health System in New Orleans and Louisiana Children's Medical Center, also in New Orleans.
Council members have considered calling a meeting in July to discuss the hospitals' futures. The council reportedly received 17 different offers and interviewed six organizations before choosing HCA, Ochsner and Children's.
