Greenville (S.C.) Health System and Laurens County Health Care System in Clinton, S.C., have ended nine-month negotiations, as the two organizations have signed a deal to affiliate.
Effective July 1, LCHCS will be fully integrated within GHS, becoming the sixth campus. LCHCS will lease its hospital facilities and transfer all operating assets under a 40-year, long-term lease to GHS.
LCHCS, which has 76 acute-care beds, will be renamed Greenville Health System Laurens County Memorial Hospital. Excluding this deal, Greenville has 1,268 beds and 14 medical residency and fellowship programs.
The two organizations had been in exclusive affiliation talks since this past September and nearly finalized the deal in May.
