Emory Healthcare and Saint Joseph's Health System, both located in Atlanta, have finalized their partnership, according to a joint news release.
The organizations announced their plans to form a joint operating company roughly 10 months ago. The arrangement, which went into effect Jan. 1, combines the heart hospital of Saint Joseph's with Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The facilities will also share an electronic medical record and have more ability to expand services.
Under the arrangement, Emory will have a majority ownership over Saint Joseph's, split at 51-49 percent. Saint Joseph's will retain involvement in governance of the joint operating company, including super majority voting rights on issues critical to Saint Joseph's mission, values and Catholic religious and ethical directives.
