Emanuel Medical Center, a 72-bed hospital based in Swainsboro, Ga., has signed a joint management and lease agreement with ER Hospitals, a hospital management group based in Salt Lake City, according to a Swainsboro Forest-Blade report.
EMC will still be run as a non-profit hospital. EMC CEO Brian Riddle told the Forest-Blade the hospital had been looking for a strategic partner for a while, and EMC went with ER Hospitals to balance "local say-so and expert outside management experience, with significant financial backing."
ER Hospitals also manages hospitals in Nevada and could break into the California and Texas markets as well.
