Baton Rouge, La.-based LSU Health Care Services Division may approve a non-profit takeover of its public hospitals in Shreveport, La., and Monroe, La., by Monday, according to a report by the Shreveport Times.
Cash-strapped LSU has been publicly seeking a partner since last year after deep cuts in state funding were enacted. The latest agreement looks to partner with Shreveport-based Biomedical Research Foundation and would cede its operations of LSU Shreveport and EA Conway Medical Center to the foundation. Previously, Shreveport-Bossier City, La.-based Willis-Knighton Health System and Irving, Texas-based Christus Health's Shreveport-Bossier Hospital expressed interest.
LSU Shreveport Hospital also operates the Huey P. Long Medical Center in Pineville, La., although it's unclear whether the foundation would operate that facility as well in the partnership.
